In the video below we show you the ARRI sensor/format coverage of each lens in our TLS Cooke Speed Panchro lens set, up to LF open gate.
You'll notice that only the longer lenses completely cover the LF open gate format, which is to be expected from a set of vintage lenses designed in the 1940s and 1950s.
An interesting detail is that sensor coverage changes as focus is racked, which is why a video works well as we can show you how coverage changes as focus is racked from minimum object distance to infinity. This is primarily visible in the wider focal lengths lenses.
The table below summarises coverage of the lenses in our set.
Focal Length | Image Circle | LF Open Gate | S35 Open Gate | S35 3.2K |
18mm | ≅31mm | No | No | Yes |
25mm | ≅34mm | No | Yes | Yes |
32mm | ≅32mm | No | Mostly - strong vignette | Yes |
40mm | ≅38mm | No | Yes | Yes |
50mm | ≅44mm | Yes - some vignetting | Yes | Yes |
75mm | ≅45mm | Yes | Yes | Yes |
