The new Zoom H6 is a portable, flexible field audio recorder that records up to 6 channels simultaneously to an SD card. Records both broadcast WAV and MP3 files - the former at up to 96kHz / 24-bit.
The preamps in the H6 have been redesigned to lower the noise floor, resulting in cleaner recordings when compared to the earlier Zoom H4N model.
Interchangeable capsules increase the versatility of the H6. An X/Y capsule is included - ideal for capturing an authentic recording of live events etc. Also included is the MSH-6 mid-side capsule, which allows the width of the stereo image to be adjusted in post-production.
Aside from the range of capsules, the H6 has four mic/line inputs via XLR/TRS combo connectors. Each input has its own dedicated gain control and -20dB pad.
As for outputs, the H6 has a 1/8" unbalanced stereo line out for the analog stereo output mix as configured using the internal mixer of the H6. The USB port outputs either a digital stereo mix, or output of the six individual inputs. There's also a 1/8" headphone output for monitoring the stereo output signal.
The H6 is powered by 4 AA batteries and runs for about 20 hours.
