The 100m macro is a staple in the product photography world and the RF 100mm f/2.8 Macro ups the game from previous generations by increasing the magnification factor to 1.4x! This is a pretty huge jump over the EF model that only has a mgnification of 1.0x.
Sharpness is as you would expect for a 100mm macro, beautifully crisp across the entire lens with minimal colour fringing and pleasing bokeh.
The RF version of this lens introduces a Spherical Aberation control (SA Control) ring on the lens which allows you to precisely control the softness of your image for some very interesting creative control. For standard photography you would leave this option off and you can lock the ring so you dont accidentally change it during your shoot. Ken Rockwell has some great examples of the SA control in his in-depth review.
